The Green Bay packers defeated the Houston Texans 42-24 at the Reliant Stadium to end their undefeated streak.
Aaron Rodgers was the star for the Packers (3-3) who, with six touchdown passes, set a new career high. The Texans (5-1), who was so far unbeaten were humbled in a match that was comprehensively won by the Packers.
Rodgers completed 24 of 37 passes for 338 yards equalling, Matt Flynn's record for TD passes.
The Associated Press quoted Rogers as saying: "This was an important game for us. We had a couple not go our way, games we should have won and 2-4 would have been very difficult."
For Houston, Arian Foster scored two touchdowns, however, he ran just 29 yards. The Atlanta Falcons (6-0) are now the only undefeated team in the league.
Prior to the game, Rodgers was seemingly upset about his own play and the 21 sacks allowed by the offensive line. However, they looked pretty organized in their game on Sunday.
"This is just a team that has a lot of pride in our locker room," the quarterback said. "I said it this week, there's not any quit in that locker room.
"It's almost better when people are doubting us a little bit, I think. We kind of band together. People tried to pull us apart this week and we stuck together and found our motivation."
The Texans missed Brian Cushing, their star linebacker, who sufferd a season-ending injury. His support would have been crucial against the Packers. But there were other reasons also for their collapse. Their offensive line was too shaky. The Texans also added to their problems by helping Rodgers with untimely penalties.
The crowd was fired up when J.J. Watt, the Texan defensive end, sacked Rodgers in the first quarter and mimicked his celebration pose.
"As a quarterback, it's interesting to see the kind of dances that go on around you and it's not often that you get a chance to dance back to them," Rodgers said.
The Texan coach Gary Kubiak seemed pretty impressed with Rodgers who completed 15 of 21 passes for 187 yards. "He put on a show tonight."
The Texans will play the Batimore Ravens at the Reliant Stadium next Sunday.
Matt Schaub, the Texans' quarterback said: "It's very disappointing to go out in front of our home crowd on Sunday night and have it turn out the way it did. We didn't play up to our standard, up to our level of expectations that we have around here across the board.
"That's everybody. We're going to have to take a hard look at it and put it behind us. The good thing is it only counts as one. We're going to have to re-focus tomorrow, watch the film, be hard on ourselves and go out and correct the mistakes that we made and get ready for Baltimore."
