Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis has agreed to a three-year maximum contract extension worth $186 million which will keep him with the purple-and-gold franchise until the 2027-28 NBA season, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on Friday.

The 30-year-old's extension will net him an average pay of $62 million per season, the largest in NBA history. Davis signed a five-year, $190 million extension with the Lakers in 2020.

The eight-time NBA All-Star's current deal expires two years from now, and he is set to get paid $40.6 million in 2023-24 and $43.2 million in 2024-25.

The Lakers will pay Davis $57.6 million in 2025-26, $62.2 million in 2026-27, and $66.8 million in 2027-28 in the new extension, per ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time, Davis was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, honoring the 75 greatest players in league history during the 2021-22 NBA season.

The four-time All-NBA First Team member helped the Lakers win their 17th NBA championship in franchise history in the bubble during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Second $60 million player in NBA history

Alongside Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard, Davis will be the second player in NBA history to secure more than $60 million in salary for a single season.

Both players will achieve the milestone in the 2026-27 NBA season. Lillard's payday is the final year of his current deal, while Davis will have another $60 million season in 2027-28.
