Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton did not hold back on his opinion when asked if he was given the chance to drive Red Bull's dominant RB19 car this season alongside two-time reigning champion Max Verstappen.

The seven-time world champion seemingly took a slight jab at Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez, claiming that the Dutchman would not be as dominant as he is now if he was driving the Mexican's car.

"Do I want to be as fast as [Red Bull]]? Of course. Would I like to have a car as fast as [Verstappen]? Of course. If I was in Sergio's car, Max would not be having the same time he's having now. But it's not the way life is," the 38-year-old said.

Hamilton also said it is impossible to beat Red Bull at the moment unless they don't finish due to their car being eight-tenths to one second faster per lap than everybody else.

Sergio Perez's performances under scrutiny

Other drivers and personalities have commented on Perez's performances this season, including Alpine's Esteban Ocon, who claimed he could do a better job than him in the same car.

Aside from a recent run of struggles in qualifying this year, the Mexican has done a solid job as Red Bull's sidekick to their golden boy.

Perez won two of the first four races this season, claiming wins in street tracks in Jeddah and Baku.
