The MLS All-Star is supposed to be a roster meant to give any giant club a run for their money, but their match against Arsenal that ended in a 0-5 beating suggested something entirely different.

The match was not that fun on the part of the hosts, and their manager Wayne Rooney criticized the amount of preparation they were given.

"We did head tennis so literally had no time whatsoever to do any tactics whatsoever, so you put the players out there and you hope they can figure things out, and against a team like Arsenal that's very difficult to do," he said.

"I was a little shocked at the quality. The lads were nervous and hesitant to get shots off and I think here you see the difference between All-Stars and one of the best teams in Europe."

Arsenal came into the game trying to test their new lineup with the arrival of former England captain from West Ham United and Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

The familiarity still did not factor in as the Gunners finished the match with five players making the scoreboard.

What needs to improve in MLS, according to Rooney?

The Manchester United legend now manages DC United after playing for the team for one season in 2018.

He has familiarized himself with American soccer but believes refereeing still needs to improve.

"I think that's something that needs improving in the MLS," he said.

"I've said it all season, so it's a good opportunity for me to bring it up again."

The refereeing in MLS has become a hot topic lately. An anonymous referee even suggested that the arrival of Lionel Messi could expose their lack of quality.
