New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu opened up on being a role model for the younger generation of fans, especially young girls who are dreaming of making it to the WNBA.

The 25-year-old guard said that the main reason why they are playing the game is to inspire, noting that if they can leave a good impression on at least one kid, they have done their job.

"It is a lot bigger than us and what we stand for. Continuing to be those role models for the young kids that are in attendance. A lot of them do not care what the score is but they see how you react to losing and winning. How you carry yourself. That is what is really important," she added.

Ionescu is one of the most popular players in the league, topping the list of most jerseys sold in just her sophomore season in 2021.

The Liberty selected the former Oregon player as the first overall pick of the 2020 WNBA Draft and has been selected to the All-Star team in 2022 and 2023.
