There are football fans. And there are members of the Curva Nord.

Inter Milan fanatics have released a statement following the sure departure of Romelu Lukaku from the San Siro Stadium.

Curva Nord, the group of fans considered the focal point of the club's support for their lively and passionate chants, called the Belgian a "vile mercenary" for selling himself to the highest bidder.

They even called the 30-year-old striker a traitor for betraying their trust, as they were always there for him amid the struggle and criticisms.

"Those who betray you once will always do it again," the group stated.

"Not because they like doing it, just because it's in their nature. Yes, because you, Romelu, betrayed all of us.

"We who staunchly stood behind you even during your worse periods. We defended you while the fans of the team who you're now in talks with mocked us for it."

Where to now for Lukaku?

Last season was Lukaku's second stint for the Nerazzurris, and it was productive.

Inter wanted to have him permanently, but suddenly, they dropped their pursuit of the player.

This is said to be because of the entry of Juventus, who, according to reports, will pay him better.

Italian reports also revealed that Lukaku and manager Simon Inzaghi no longer have a working relationship, as the former felt frustrated by the benching that happened during the Champions League finals loss to Manchester City.
