Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey spoke about superstar Joel Embiid's comments about his priority to win an NBA championship even with another team, wherever the opportunity arises.

"At the end of the day, he's talking about the business of the NBA. In his mind, he wants to win here. He wants to win it for Philly. That's the only place he wants to win," the 50-year-old executive said.

The 2018 NBA Executive of the Year added that Embiid was referencing that it is not totally in his control where he is at all times.

Morey's response comes after the reigning MVP's recent comments wherein he said he wants to win a championship, whatever it takes.

"I don't know where that's going to be, whether it's in Philly or anywhere else. I just want to have a chance to accomplish that," the 29-year-old said.

Daryl Morey is attempting to honor James Harden's request

Morey continues to search for a trade to ship James Harden, who has requested a move out of Philly this offseason.

The 2018 NBA MVP had the option to hit unrestricted free agency this offseason, but no interested teams were able to offer more than his salary in his Sixers player option of $35.6 million for 2023-24, causing the 33-year-old to opt in and wait for a trade to happen.

Morey said that if Harden were to turn his mind around, the organization would all be thrilled.

"But at this moment he does prefer to be traded, and we are attempting to honor that," he said.
