Bucks: Brook Lopez Has Interesting Choice for Next Team; It's Not Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Bucks have yet to confirm whether the big man and starting center Brook Lopez will continue with the team, but the 35-year-old center already has his eyes on another franchise.

The team he wants to play for is not the Bucks, with whom he won his first championship in 2021. But Milwaukee fans have to calm down because it is not an active team, either.

ESPN's Malika Andrews tried to squeeze the Splash Mountain on his preferred next destination, and Lopez jokingly said he eyes Montreal's baseball team, but since it is defunct now, he would prefer the Seattle Supersonics, another defunct franchise.

"My choice really would be Seattle Supersonics honestly," he said.

Of course, it was a joke, and Lopez was feeling sentimental about Seattle going out at a time when the New Jersey Nets had just drafted him.

Splash Mountain will keep splashing for the Bucks

Milwaukee fans are expected to continue seeing Lopez hitting it from the deep for them as reports point to the soft-spoken big man signing a new deal for a couple more years.

Marc Stein of Substack said the Bucks are in a "promising position" to re-sign Lopez. The one-time All-Star is currently a free agent after finishing his four-year $52 million contract last season.

Before that, he took the veteran minimum to be able to play for the Wisconsin-based team.

Fans fell in love with Lopez not just because he is a great complement to superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in both offense and defense but also because of his soft demeanor.

Playing with Giannis earned him two individual accolades - First Team Defense and Second Team Defense - since his rookie year.
