The Boston Celtics are closing in on a deal to receive scoring big man Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards in a three-team trade that sends Malcolm Brogdon to the Los Angeles Clippers and Marcus Morris, Amir Coffey, and this draft's 30th pick to Washington, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski later added that Porzingis would need to opt-in to his $36 million option for the 2023-24 season to make the deal happen, and Boston's Danilo Gallinari will be added to the mix to complete the transaction.

Sides are still working through details, but the deal is considered a "high possibility," according to a league source.

Wizards Commit to Full Rebuild

The franchise has chosen to rebuild the team after the Wizards recently traded star Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns last week.

The next logical move is to free up further cap space by letting go of Porzingis' salary for draft capital and landing young players. Danilo Gallinari and Marcus Morris are proven veterans that could serve as a mentor to their youth movement.

On the other hand, the Celtics are getting a boost to their frontcourt and scoring with the Latvian big man. The trade for the 7-foot-3 center will soften the blow if they lose forward Grant Williams, who is being courted by several other NBA teams as a restricted free agent.

The Clippers will receive a proven scorer in Brogdon, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
