Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green decided to become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday declining his $27.5 million player option for the 2023-24 season.

While all roads led to him getting back with the team that drafted him in 2012, the 33-year-old forward still teased NBA followers with a tweet to Lebron James by quoting the tweet that broke the news of his availability.

He was also spotted in France together with the Los Angeles Lakers star.

Rumors of Green joining the King in Los Angeles have been floating since last season. He seemed aware of the media's interest in his next move, whether to the Lakers or just happy displaying his friendship with Lebron.

Green even considers Lebron his Greatest of All Time and is not shy talking about it in public.

Can the Lakers Sign Draymond Green?

The Lakers have the capacity to get the services of Green, but only if they will let go of some players in their rotation, like Mo Bamba and Shaquille Harrison, who are both on non-guaranteed contracts, and Malik Beasley, with whom they have the option to decline.

This means the salary cap of the Lakers will open up, allowing them to acquire Green, whose salary is at $27 million.

Of course, that is the only thing they are in control of since the Warriors' new GM, Mike Dunleavy, already expressed a desire to keep Green.
