Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has appeared in a beer commercial, but it is "not the beer" he was endorsing.
The latest ad by Coors Light starring Mahomes drew laughs and was branded "clever" by fans and commenters for bypassing National Football League rules regarding the endorsement of alcohol.
This is the second time the two-time Super Bowl champ appeared for the American beer company. The first one was in 2022.
NFL players are restricted from endorsing ads for beer, distilled spirits, and wine. The league used to have a strict rule on this, but it loosened up the mandate in 2019.

Morning Consult said in an explanation of the rule:
"Only active players can be used; creative materials cannot imply that players are endorsing the product; and if brands want to use more than one player's likeness, they have to use a minimum of six players."
In the ad, the background voice acknowledges the NFL rule that players are not allowed to promote alcoholic beverages before the camera turns to Mahomes, whom the voiceover says endorses "Coors Light Bear." And then the bear bonded with Mahomes later on.
Fair play, Coors!
Bankable star
Mahomes is regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, even if he's only been in the league for six years. His short career is one of the main focuses of an upcoming Netflix documentary series titled Quarterback alongside Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota.
In his young career, he has already collected two Superbowl trophies, two Superbowl MVPs, and two NFL MVP awards.
He also signed the richest contract in the history of American team sports after agreeing to a 10-year, $450 million contract extension with around $475 million in 2020.
