New Lakers Mural Features Greats From Past to Present
The mural features four dynamic duos who won championships for the purple-and-gold franchise, with Korean elements as a backdrop.
On the left are Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who led the Lakers to five titles during the 1980s Showtime era.
They were followed by a young, afro-haired Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, who led the franchise to a three-peat in the early 2000s and are widely considered among the most dominant duos of all time.
The Black Mamba appears twice in the mural, with an older version of himself smiling with Pau Gasol beside Shaq. The duo won back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
Lastly, present-day Laker superstars Anthony Davis and LeBron James are on the right side, having led the Lakers to their latest title in 2020 during the NBA Bubble.
Popular muralist Jonas Never created the mural in collaboration with the Lakers and Bibigo. Never has made several Laker murals, among other Los Angeles sports teams across the city.
