Jake Paul Challenges Conor McGregor to a Boxing Match
In an interview on the TMZ Sports show on FS1, Paul stated that he plans to inflict a knockout on Diaz, then proceed to fight McGregor in what could be "the biggest fight in combat sports."
"I'mma knock [Diaz] out, do what Conor couldn't do, and then Conor's gonna have no choice [but] to make the biggest fight in combat sports," the 26-year-old said.
McGregor and Diaz faced twice in the UFC, with each man winning one fight apiece. Diaz won the first fight between the two, locking up the Irish with a rear-naked choke en route to a submission win. McGregor got his revenge five months later with a majority decision victory.
Paul prefers to have the potential fight against McGregor as a boxing match, but he offered an intriguing option.
"We could do two-part series. One boxing, one MMA in PFL. Make it happen, no problem," the social media star proudly announced.
Paul recently signed a multi-year deal with mixed martial arts promotion Professional Fighters League last January to make his MMA debut. He plans to have two fights with the promotion this year.
Facing off against combat sports icons is not a new feat for the Paul brothers. Jake's brother Logan squared off against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an eight-round exhibition boxing match in June 2021.
