Deontay Wilder, a former world heavyweight boxing champion, was detained in the early hours of Tuesday in Los Angeles for reportedly possessing a concealed firearm inside his Rolls Royce car.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Wilder was stopped by the police in Hollywood due to having windows with illegal tint and an obscured license plate.
Additionally, the officers claimed to have detected the smell of "burnt marijuana" emanating from the vehicle.

A search by the police led to the discovery of a firearm, following which Wilder was detained and subsequently booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon. However, he was released on bail at $35,000 a few hours later.
Wilder has been scheduled to appear in court on May 23, and if found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon, he could face up to three years in prison.
In 2013, Wilder was arrested and accused of domestic abuse related to an incident in Las Vegas. However, the case was ultimately resolved outside of the courtroom.
According to reports, Wilder cooperated with the police and was "nice" throughout the incident.
After being released, Wilder shared a mysterious post on Twitter that read, "I'd rather be safe than sorry. The End."
Wilder returned to the ring last year after a year-long absence following his third epic fight with Tyson Fury in October 2021.
He is rumored to be the next opponent for Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight super fight expected to happen in 2023.
However, it remains unclear if Wilder's arrest on Tuesday will affect the negotiations for the fight.
