Kawhi Leonard, Resembling His Prime Self
This will be the third consecutive game that Leonard will miss due to a knee sprain. Additionally, the Clippers have confirmed that Paul George, who has been out of action after spraining his knee during the regular season, will not be playing either. It was anticipated that George would not be able to recover in time to participate in the playoffs' first round.
In the series' first two games, Leonard, a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP, exhibited excellent form, resembling his prime self. He led the Clippers to a Game 1 triumph in Phoenix, contributing 38 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Despite losing, he shone once again in Game 2, with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals.
The Clippers were hopeful that they could challenge the Suns, who had healthy star players such as Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton, after splitting the games on the road with George on the sidelines.
However, the news of Leonard's injury dampened their spirits, and they have since lost two consecutive games at home, falling behind 3-1. They now face a crucial Game 5 on the road, without their two best players, and must win to stay alive in the series.
