The New England Patriots extended their winning streak to five games with a comprehensive 25-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football. Mac Jones completed 22 of 26 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown for the Pats, who improved their season record to 7-4.

Matt Ryan struggles again in another blowout loss

New England's defense once again stole the show in this primetime game as the Falcons were shut out for the first time since December 13, 2015, when they suffered a humiliating 38-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The Patriots put the clamps on Matt Ryan, who threw for just 153 yards with no touchdowns and a couple of interceptions. He was under severe pressure all evening long, with the Pats sacking him four times.

Atlanta had a glorious opportunity to slice New England's lead during the second quarter but Ryan was sacked on 3rd and 1 when the Falcons were on the Patriots' 14-yard line. The Falcons had to settle for a field goal on the next possession but Younghoe Koo's successful attempt on 4th and 14 was nullified after Atlanta was adjudged to have been in an illegal formation. The Falcons took a five-yard penalty as a result with Koo missing the ensuing field goal attempt on 4th and 19.

It was that kind of night for the Falcons, who suffered two embarrassing defeats in a span of four days. They were destroyed by the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10, losing by 40 points to the NFC East leaders. Atlanta's offense sputtered once again in Week 11, with the Falcons scoring just three points combined in their last two outings.

Matthew Judon continues excellent play in New England defense

They had the misfortune of facing a Patriots team that is playing some tremendous defense of late. The Pats have conceded just 13 points in their last three games. They kept the Falcons in check the entire game, even recording an interception each on Atlanta's backup quarterbacks Josh Rosen and Feleipe Franks in the closing minutes.

One guy who is playing some incredible football for New England is Matthew Judon. He has proven to be a shrewd signing for Bill Belichick this season, with the outside linebacker already setting a career high 10.5 sacks this campaign. He broke his personal record in the second quarter against Atlanta with his sack on Ryan.

Judon is the first New England player with double-digit sacks in a season since Chandler Jones accomplished that feat in 2015. Judon can increase that record even further with the Patriots set to play six more games this season.

New England will be tested, though, in its next four games with the Patriots set to face the AFC-leading Tennessee Titans, the Indianapolis Colts, and division rivals Buffalo Bills twice.
