Day 12 promises to be pressure-packed for Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics, with the Americans featuring in do-or-die quarterfinal matches in several events. The U.S. women's volleyball team will take on the Dominican Republic in the quarters, while Team USA will square off with Australia in the women's basketball competition quarterfinals.

United States' men's water polo team will also have a knockout match in the quarterfinals today, while Team USA will look to stay alive in the men's baseball competition when they take on the Dominican Republic in a win-or-go-home clash.

Team USA looks to continue fine form in women's volleyball and basketball

The Americans enter the knockout stage of the women's volleyball competition at the Tokyo Olympics in excellent form, finishing top of their group after the preliminary round with a loss to Russian Olympic Committee, the only blemish to their slate.

However, key players Jordan Thompson and setter Jordyn Poulter remain doubtful for the quarterfinal match against the Dominican Republic after picking up injuries during the group stage. The action begins at 12 a.m. E.T. and can be seen live on NBC's streaming service Peacock.

In basketball, the Americans will look to extend their winning streak in the Olympics to a whopping 53 matches when they take on Australia in the quarterfinals. This will be an interesting matchup given that Team USA lost to Australia in an exhibition match last month in the lead-up to the Olympics. The crunch match begins at 12:30 a.m. E.T. with USA Network airing the live broadcast.

Team USA handed tough matchups in baseball and water polo

Team USA will have its hands full in the men's water polo event, with the Americans taking on powerhouse Spain in the quarterfinals. Team USA finished the group stage with a paltry 2-3 record while Spain won its five games in the preliminary round.

The Americans will need to solve a Spain defense that has conceded just 31 goals in the tournament, the fewest in this year's Olympics. The U.S. vs. Spain clash begins at 1:10 a.m. E.T. and can be seen live on Peacock.

Baseball competition at the Tokyo Olympics has also entered the knockout stage with Team USA in a must-win clash against the Dominican Republic. The Americans fell into this predicament after losing to Japan in a heart-breaking fashion in their last game. Team USA blew a one-run lead in the ninth inning, eventually losing 7-6 in extra innings.

A win here will allow them to face the loser of South Korea vs. Japan clash in the semifinals, but a defeat will signal the end of their campaign. The do-or-die clash begins at 11 p.m. E.T. with CNBC airing the live broadcast starting at 12:15 a.m. E.T.
