Team USA gold medalists return to action on Day 6 of the Tokyo Olympics with swimmers Caeleb Dressel and Katie Ledecky, and fencer Lee Kiefer looking for more glory in Japan. Simone Biles may have withdrawn from the individual all-around competition in women's gymnastics, but Team USA still has a great chance of taking home the gold medal with Suni Lee.
The golf competition for the men also begins today with Team USA's Collin Morikawa, and Japan's very own Hideki Matsuyama installed as the pre-tournament favorites.
Dressel, Ledecky and Kiefer looking for more golds
Caeleb Dressel has won a total of three Olympic gold medals in his career, including one here in Tokyo in the men's 4x100-m freestyle relay. All of those first-place finishes, however, have come from relays. That could change on Day 6 as Dressel is set to race in the men's 100-m freestyle. Dressel is the overwhelming favorite to win this event as he is the reigning two-time world champion.
Katie Ledecky will also look to add to her burgeoning medal tally when she competes in the women's 4x200-m freestyle relay for Team USA. Other finals to watch out for are the men's 800-m freestyle, men's 200-m breaststroke, and women's 200-m butterfly. Pool action starts at 9:30 p.m. ET and can be seen live on NBC.
Also gunning for another gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics today is Lee Kiefer. She will lead the United States in the team foil event after famously capturing the gold medal in the women's individual foil earlier this week. Kiefer will be joined in the team by Nicole Ross and Jackie Dubrovich, with Sabrina Massialas on standby as Team USA's replacement athlete.
The Americans will fancy their chances in this event as they won the world title back in 2018. Preliminary matches will begin at 9:50 p.m. ET. Medal matches will then start at 5:30 a.m ET with NBCSN airing the broadcast.

Suni Lee to lead Team USA in Biles' absence
Simone Biles arrived in Tokyo as the prohibitive favorite to retain the Olympic gold medal in the women's individual all-around competition. That is now out of the question after Biles' stunning withdrawal from Thursday's final due to mental health concerns. With Biles out, the race is now wide open for the remaining female gymnasts.
Among the main contenders to win gold in this event is American Suni Lee. She had the third-highest all-around score during the qualifying round, behind only Biles and Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade. Jade Carey will also see action for Team USA in this event as she takes Biles' place in the event. The action begins at 6:50 a.m. ET and can be watched via live stream on Peacock.
The best professional golfers in the world begin their quest for Olympic glory today with the opening round of the men's golf competition. Taking center stage are majors champions Colin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama. Team USA's Morikawa is in fine form, having won the Open Championship just this month.
On the other hand, Matsuyama is the reigning Masters champion and is under so much pressure to deliver the gold medal for the host nation. The action starts at 6:30 p.m. ET and can be viewed on the Golf Channel.
