People's Republic of China continued to lead the medal tally after Day 2 of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with six gold medals, 1 silver and four bronze medals.
In the 2016 Rio Olympics, China finished at third with a medal count of 26-19-26 (gold-silver-bronze) for a total of 72, behind Team USA with 46-37-38 for a total of 121, and Great Britain who finished with 27-23-17 for a total of 67.
Host country Japan took up the current second spot with a medal count of 5-1-0, followed by Team USA with 4-2-4, six of which, including its first gilt, coming from the swimmers.
Rounding uo the top five were Republic of Korea (2-0-3) and the Russian Olympic Committee or the ROC with its current medal count of 1-4-2.
