New York Yankees Overwhelmed Cleveland Indians 12-3 in Wild Card Round

New York Yankees easily overwhelmed Cleveland Indians with a 12-3 final score.

In the first game, it is clear that the Yankees won't be needing a third game. Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole did not let the Indians breathe as he made 13 strikeouts during the Game 1 last Tuesday night. Indians pitcher Shane Bieber and the team had no response to the onslaught.

This is the second-highest strikeout with Roger Clemens coming on top and delivering 15 during the 2000 ALCS. Be that as it may, this does make Cole the first pitcher to get the most strikeouts in three postseason games.

NY outfielder Aaron Judge set the tone of the game with two home runs against Bieber's initial pitch.

The Indians pitcher was said to be baseball's pitcher during the regular season, while the Yankees had not faced him in 2020. But it appears that they were prepared what Bieber was going to throw at them, and the scoring shows.

Bieber said that the first inning did not go as intended: "I wish I would have been with my off-speed stuff in the zone, and challenged those guys a little more. I forced myself into some bad situations and some bad counts on top of not having my best stuff and making mistakes. No excuses. It was not good."

This game was said to be different compared to the previous matchups between the Yankees and Indians. Game 2 will continue Wednesday night with NY pitcher Masahiro Tanaka against Cleveland's pitcher Carlos "Cookie" Carrasco. The Indians lost seven consecutive playoff games already. Hoping to make something work and turn it around on the second game would probably be a miracle at this point.

The game happened near the Case Western Reserve, where President Donald Trump and Presidential candidate Joe Biden were having the presidential debate as the whole nation watched.
