Tony Romo Thinks Green Bay Packers Are 'Team To Beat' In 2018 NFL Season

Tony Romo believes that the Green Bay Packers had a strong offseason, making the necessary moves to become favorites in the 2018 NFL season.

The Packers are coming off a disappointing year after they finished with a 7-9 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2008 season. Green Bay made several moves to boost their offense and bolster their defensive backfield. Now, Romo believes that the Packers will be a force to reckon with this year.

"I think the Packers probably got better more than any team I saw this offseason," Romo told WTMK-TV, according to NFL. "It's early and injuries happen, but right now, they're right at the top for me as far as a team you wouldn't want to see in the playoffs."

Green Bay shocked their fan base when they parted ways with veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson who spent nine seasons with the Packers. However, the Packers quickly improved their roster when they signed former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham.

Jimmy Graham Will Be A 'Different Animal'

Graham had an inconsistent year with the Seahawks last season. The 31-year-old tallied 57 catches for 520 yards with 10 touchdowns. While his game appears to be on a downward trajectory last season, Romo is convinced that the change of scenery will work wonders for the North Carolina native.

Romo, who started his broadcasting career last year, said that Graham will be rejuvenated in the 2018 NFL season as he will be playing alongside Aaron Rodgers. He is convinced that the former Seahawks superstar will be a "different animal" this year, as his partnership with Rodgers will be almost unstoppable in the red zone.

"The Jimmy Graham thing is a big deal, people don't understand," Romo said. "You're going to see old school, Jimmy Graham."

Aside from Graham, the Packers also added another key piece in defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson. Wilkerson will be reunited with Green Bay defensive coordinator Mike Pettine who handled him during their time together with the New York Jets. Green Bay also acquired cornerback Tramon Williams this offseason.

Aaron Rodgers Hungrier Than Ever

With the new additions to their team, the Packers are also expected to see a reinvigorated starting quarterback. Rodgers's mere presence will make them a perennial Super Bowl contender next season, while also pointing out that the 34-year-old signal caller will be hungrier than ever.

Rodgers played just seven games last season after sustaining a broken collarbone. The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 1,675 yards with 16 touchdowns against six interceptions for Green Bay.
