WWE Rumors: Plans for the Universal Championship After Payback Revealed

Brock Lesnar is not scheduled to defend the WWE Universal Championship at Payback despite being the first pay-per-view after WrestleMania 33. The WWE seems to have big plans for Lesnar and they have been revealed by the latest rumors.

According to Cageside Seats, the WWE is planning to keep Braun Strowman strong on television because he will be Brock Lesnar's first title challenger. The report also noted that Strowman could end up defeating Roman Reigns at Payback.

The match between Strowman and Reigns has been made official with the possibility of adding a stipulation to protect "The Big Dog" if he loses. Reigns has a lot of momentum from defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 and it will be all for naught if he loses cleanly to the "Monster Among Men".

One potential stipulation for Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns at Payback is an Ambulance Match. Strowman recently tipped over an ambulance on Monday Night Raw while Reigns was inside. It garnered a lot of pop from the crowd and the match will certainly work because of the brutality of it.

Another possible and much simpler situation is a Stretcher Match. It has been done several times by the WWE but it still works. Fans want to see Braun Strowman beat Roman Reigns and finally put him on a stretcher before coming back screaming "I'm not finished with you" once again.

In this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, Braun Strowman continued his path of destruction. He attacked superstars like Goldust, R-Truth and Kalisto before being booked to face the Big Show in the main event.

As recapped by WWE.com, Strowman and Big Show put on quite a match with a really great ending. The "Monster Among Men" superplexed Big Show that caused the ring to collapse. It was an unbelievable moment that made Strowman look stronger than ever.

However, it should be noted that plans for Payback might change. Vince McMahon changes his mind a lot and he won't finalize the results until the day of the pay-per-view on April 30 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
