Tim Tebow pronounces himself "the best now that I've ever been" in a 14,000-word Sports Illustrated profile piece where the out-of-work quarterback also touches on his relationship with former Florida teammate Aaron Hernandez.
Despite last playing in a NFL game more than two seasons ago and recent rumors that he has hired a prominent sports broadcasting agency and is strongly leaning toward a career in broadcasting ,Tebow, 26, also tells SI "he plans to be ready when the NFL calls."
"I've really been working a lot on my weaknesses, trying to make them strengths," said Tebow. "And I think one of those main things is accuracy, especially on the short routes, touch passes, intermediate throws, crossing routes."
To that end, the former Heisman Trophy winner was recently spotted in L.A. putting himself through a grueling quarterback-training session. "I feel like I'm improving," he told SI. "And I love what I do, and I'm still just as passionate, and fired up, and lovin' the game. As always."
As for Hernandez and the much publicized night in 2007 when the then Florida teammates were at a Gainesville bar together when a fight broke out the now jailed Hernandez found himself at the center of, Tebow recalls Hernandez believed the drinks they were having were free when he got into a dispute with the manager.
"'What about this?,'" Tebow said the manager screamed of a bill he was holding. "He got in Hernandez's face. A woman tried to pay the bill, but the manager ignored her... Hernandez punched the manager...and ran away so fast that he left behind one black sneaker."
