George Linares Beat Anthony Crolla in Rematch, Issued Challenge to Mikey Garcia

 

George Linares (42-3, 27 KOs), 31, successfully pushed himself to victory against Anthony Crolla (31-6, 13 KOs), 30, last Saturday at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. It was Crolla's first attempt at regaining his WBA lightweight belt. Linares was the same opponent who snatched his crown 6 months ago in Sept. 2016.

George Linares was so masterful in his defense of his WBA lightweight title, confusing his local opponent with dazzling lateral movements, combination punching, hand speed and devastating upper cut here and there. Anthony Crolla was dropped in the seventh. He made the fight a little rougher for Linares after that solitary trip to the canvas but the Venezuelan was simply the better fighter of that night if legalized violence.
