Derrick Rose Injury: Star Hurts Knee Against Blazers; Is Injury Serious? [VIDEO]

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose sat out the entire 2012-13 NBA season to rehabilitate his torn ACL on his left knee hoping he would come back stronger than before. Unfortunately, Rose's return has been sidetracked anew as he injured his right knee against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night forcing him to leave the game and the arena on crutches.

Rose left the game with around three minutes in the third quarter after he cut towards the basket for a backdoor pass. According to Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau as reported by SI.com: "He has pain and felt like he couldn't push off the right knee. We're not sure." Rose will undergo MRI on Saturday to determine the extent of the unspecified injury.

The 2011 MVP had to be assisted to the locker room after he was initially attended on the bench. He then left the arena on crutches.

His teammates Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson hope that the latest injury to Rose is not significant for their star to miss games. Said Gibson: "I didn't think it was anything too serious. I was just hoping for the best. ... He's a strong guy. He worked extremely hard this summer trying to get his body right, working out every day. So it sucks that this has to happen but that's what happens in this league. It's a tough league."

Rose injured his ACL during a a play-off game against the Philadelphia 76ers in 2011. He spent the next season rehabbing his knee and elected not to rejoin the team during its surprising playoff run last spring.

Rose finished the game with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. The Bulls dropped the game, 98-95. The team is in the middle of a six-game road trip and will face the LA Clippers on Sunday.
