Pittsburgh comes into play on the top of the Metropolitan Division while New York sits at the very bottom, nine points shy of the Penguins. In the first meeting between the two teams this season also in Pittsburgh, the Islanders won 4-3 on Oct. 25.

The Penguins halted a three-game road losing streak with a statement 4-0 win over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

"We didn't give up a lot," coach Dan Bylsma said per NHL.com. "We didn't give them opportunities to use their speed and space. I thought it was tough for them to get through there."

The Islanders are coming off of a 5-2 road loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night.

"We have a lot to prove still and we're still a growing team and we need to find our game on a consistent level," captain John Tavares told Newsday. "[We need to] be better in a lot the gritty areas, things that top teams do really well, and we don't do that enough."

Tavares leads the Islanders with 25 points off of nine goals and 16 assists while Frans Nielsen has a team-high 10 tallies to go along with 12 helpers for 22 points and Kyle Okposo has lit the lamp six times and added 14 assists for 20 points.

The Penguins are also paced by their captain as Sidney Crosby has 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points while Evgeni Malkin has only found the back of the net three times but has added 19 assists for 22 points and Chris Kunitz has 18 points by finding the twine nine times and adding nine helpers thus far.

With Evgeni Nabokov (strained groin) still sidelined, Kevin Poulin, 23, will man the crease for the Islanders. Poulin is 3-6-0 with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage. Marc-Andre Fleury has played in 19 of the Penguins 22 games, and is 13-6-0 with a 1.90 GAA and a .924 save percentage.

The Islanders look to get out of the cellar by beating the Pens again in Pittsburgh while the Penguins will look to keep a stranglehold on the division lead when the puck drops at the Consol Energy Center tonight in Pittsburgh.
