By the looks of it, Carmelo Anthony finally accepted his fate wearing orange and blue. With Melo reaching the playoffs only once, the former Syracuse wingman wanted to get back to the playoffs but he doesn't seem to be part of it with the Knicks according to NY Daily News.
After several news of him being offered to several teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers as Sports World News previously reported, the 32-year-old forward admitted that he's been thinking about his team if they will be able to go back to the playoffs, or if they do, is he still part of that run based on reports from the same NY Daily News article.
Larry Brown Sports published that he also felt disappointed this current season with the talent that the team's roster have, which includes Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and sophomore Kristaps Porzingis. "For some reason, we couldn't get it together and get it going. It's more difficult this season than in the past," the 13-year veteran added.
He also pointed out that the team was also hit by inconsistencies, which led to his team not overcoming the 32 wins that they had in the last season. He also mentioned that he is open to playing the role that the team will be given to him. "For me as a professional, it's my duty regardless of the situation to still try to play and try to win until they say don't play nor more or sit us down with limited minutes."
It has been reported in the past few months that New York Knicks are looking to build around Porzingis and with Phil Jackson taking care of basketball operations, everybody can expect the team to make major roster revamp during the off-season and. With these impending personnel movements, Carmelo Anthony has the option of whether staying with the Knicks or make the playoffs wearing a different uniform, perhaps with LeBron in Cleveland after expressing his desire of teaming up with his childhood friend.
