NBA Rumors: Lonzo Ball to the Lakers? Magic Johnson Could Be Interested in LaVar Ball's Son

Potential 2017 NBA first overall pick Lonzo Ball is currently trying to help UCLA win the NCAA tournament but his father, LaVar, has been grabbing headlines with a lot of ridiculous claims. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers could take a chance on Lonzo despite what his father said or will say in the future.

The Lakers currently have the second-worst record in the NBA and they have a great shot at getting the first or second overall pick in this year's draft. Magic Johnson, the newest Lakers boss, is going to have the chance to select the team's next franchise player and it could be Lonzo Ball.

According to Mark Heisler of the Los Angeles Daily News, the Lakers are a good landing spot for Lonzo Ball. He noted that the 19-year-old is an exceptional playmaker after leading the country in assists this season. He can also score and hit threes despite his very awkward form.

Heisler also pointed out that Lonzo Ball is the opposite of his father. The 19-year-old freshman is a down-to-earth person that has a great relationship with his coaches and teammates. It also seems like LaVar's comments are not affecting Lonzo on the court as he has led UCLA to the Sweet Sixteen.

Another positive for Lonzo Ball is that NBA executives do not care about what his father says to the media. In a report by Sam Amick of USA Today, teams are not scared of drafting Lonzo because he is a really good player.

"Lonzo Ball is a game changer with his skill set and ability to make plays one can't teach. He makes your team better once he gets on the floor. His instincts and ability to push the ball up the floor with a pass first mentality is something a coach can't teach," one NBA front office executive told Amick.

Even Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, who has the best shot at landing the first overall pick, is not afraid to draft Lonzo Ball. He told The Toucher and Rich Show that a team should never hold a player's family against a player they like, per CSN New England.
