With The Signing Of Stephon Gilmore, Malcom Butler Wants Out Of The New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are once again favored to win the Super Bowl next year. Of course it helps if the New England Patriots still have arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady. With recent acquisitions of wide receiver Brandin Cooks and cornerback Stephon Gilmore, it further bolster their odds to win it again next year. However, the New England Patriots might lose one of the integral part of their success in cornerback Malcolm Butler.

Malcolm Butler's agent, Derek Simpson, is currently making calls to other teams and asking them to sign his disgruntled client, according to a report from CBS Sports. Malcolm Butler is currently on his third year in the NFL since being signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie in 2014.

Malcolm Butler wanting out of the New England Patriots is completely understandable. With the recent signing of cornerback Stephon Gilmore has made Malcolm Butler expendable. In acquiring Stephon Gilmore, the New England Patriots have a top caliber cornerback that would their defense even more formidable.

To make matters worse for Malcom Butler, the New England Patriots signed Stephon Butler to a huge contract, a contract that in, Malcolm Butler's opinion, he's also deserved to get. The New England Patriots signed Stephon Gilmore to a five year, $65 million contract last Thursday, via a report from the SB Nation.

Malcolm Butler, 27, is also looking for the same type of money that Stephon Gilmore will getting from the New England Patriots. That means that Malcolm Butler wants a new contract that would pay him between $13 million to $14 million per year.

With the recent signing of Stephon Gilmore, the New England Patriots would most likely not give Malcolm Butler the same type of deal. As a result, Malcolm Butler asked his agent to look for better offers elsewhere.

Malcolm Butler is known for his game saving interception at the goal line in the New England Patriots Super Bowl XLIX win against the Seattle Seahawks. Malcolm Butler was instrumental in the New England Patriots title run last season as he tallied a career high four interceptions.
