Matt and Jeff Hardy, more famously known as The Hardy Boyz, are rumored to be returning to the WWE after contract negotiations with TNA Impact Wrestling fell apart. However, will the WWE let Matt and Jeff use the "Broken" characters?

According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, The Hardy Boyz failed to agree on a new deal with Anthem and Impact Wrestling. They were reportedly looking for a one-year deal but Anthem wanted them to sign a two-year contract.

A clause that gives the company ten percent of Matt and Jeff Hardy's earnings outside Impact Wrestling was also included. The length of the deal and the clause were enough for The Hardy Boyz to turn it down and look at other options.

The news quickly broke out and The Hardy Boyz were immediately linked with a return to the WWE. Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer Radio that the WWE is interested in re-signing Matt and Jeff to a deal, per Wrestling Inc.

And to further add fuel to The Hard Boyz WWE return rumors, Matt and Jeff announced that they are not going to take any bookings after April. Although the Hardy brothers earn a lot of money appearing on the independent scene, they will make more if they return to the WWE.

But will Vince McMahon and Triple H allow The Hardy Boyz to use their "Broken" characters on WWE television? According to Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, fans should not expect to see Broken Matt Hardy and Broken Brother Nero on any WWE programming.

Konuwa pointed out that the WWE would want to use The Hardy Boyz for nostalgia and attract Attitude Era fans back. There is also the possible legal action from Anthem and TNA Wrestling as they are claiming the rights for the "Broken" gimmick.

Jeff can always revert back to his old character and he will still draw. However, Matt needs to be in his "Broken" character to be successful. Broken Matt Hardy is arguably one of the best and most entertaining characters in wrestling in the past year along with Chris Jericho.
