The NFC-leading Seahawks will get even more of a boost when Percy Harvin makes his debut against his old team this afternoon. Harvin had 62 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns last season before missing the last seven games with the Vikings due to an ankle injury. Seattle acquired him in the offseason.
The Seahawks are looking for their sixth consecutive win and come into the game ranking third in the league on defense and sixth on offense. The team is coming off of a 33-10 rout of the Atlanta Falcons that saw Russell Wilson throw for 287 yards and two touchdowns while Marshawn Lynch ran for a season-high 145 yards and a score.
On the season, Wilson is 163-for-257 (63.4%) for 2,132 yards with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions while Lynch has rushed for 871 yards on 191 attempts while reaching the endzone seven times.
"We've got more games we have to win and we have a lot of work to finish it out," coach Pete Carroll said per ESPN. "We have a chance to do something special in this division, we need to take advantage of every opportunity and win every game going down the stretch."
The Vikings snapped a four-game losing streak with last Thursday's victory over the Washington Redskins in a 34-27 victory. The win wasn't without its setbacks as quarterback Christian Ponder dislocated his non-throwing shoulder on a run.
The Vikings look to use the effort Ponder made as motivation.
"When they see that tape and see that he extended his body the way he did, it's going to increase their appreciation for who he is as a person and what he means to our team as a quarterback," coach Leslie Frazier told ESPN.
The Vikings are left to choose between Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman for today's game. Whoever gets the nod has to go against a Seattle team that allows just 178.0 passing yards per game, the second-best mark in the league.
Running back Adrian Peterson has rushed for a league-leading nine touchdowns and has carried for 786 yards on 173 attempts.
The Vikings look for their second straight win while the Seahawks are hoping to gain their sixth win in a row when these two teams take the field this afternoon in Seattle.
