'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' Delayed To 2018, Will Ensure Game's Quality

'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' is delayed once again much again to the disappointment of fans and gamers. The game is now delayed to Ubisoft's fiscal year 2018 due to the developer's insistence of ensuring the game meets the lofty expectations of its fan base.

It's predecessor, 'South Park: The Stick Of Truth" is regarded as one of the best licensed games that takes full advantage of its source material that captures its identity. 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' will be looking to do same and more when it releases next year.

This is actually the second delay for 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' which was originally slated for a Dec 2016 release. Ubisoft's fiscal year is between Apr 1, 2017 until Mar 31, 2018 so fans can expect the game to be released by then according to Ubisoft's website.

Delays such as this are common in video game developments. And although it might make some fans disappointed, releasing a late but great game is better than an early, unfinished game. If 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' exceeds its fans' expectations, they will surely forgive Ubisoft for the delay.

It's actually not surprising that 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' suffered a delay. The previous game of the series 'South Park: The Stick of Truth' alro received a series of delays following a change in development studios according to Polygon.

But in retrospect, the delay could actually be good thing for 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole.' The game will take its own approach on the superhero cinematic universe while applying its signature sense of humor and satire. And with several superhero movies slated for release this year like DC's 'Justice League,' the game could use the new movies as new source of material.

The series has thrived on tackling current trends and stories in pop culture and creating a story about the recent movies will make 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' much better. This could translate to characters or classes from the recent movies to make an appearance on the game.

However Ubisoft must ensure that the game releases on 2018 or risk alienating its fans. Too many delays has historically resulted in disappointing games.
