Rooney To Stay With Manchester United Amid Chinese Offers

Wayne Rooney has offers from several Chinese League clubs but he is unlikely to leave Manchester United for big money. The 31-year-old England forward who scored his 250th goal for United to become the club's record scorer has been in news to move to China in recent weeks.

Rooney's advisor was approached by Chinese Leagues who were ready to make him the most expensive player offering £750,000 a week. CSL are allowed three foreign players in their starting line-up. Rooney's contract runs until next summer with United who are holding an option to extend it further by a year.

The Chinese Super Leagues transfer window shuts down next week. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was asked if the club's captain would still continue with Old Trafford about which he said just ahead of the Europa League last-32 clash in St. Etienne, "You have to ask him. Of course, I can't guarantee [he will be here]. I can't guarantee that I'm here next week, how can I guarantee that a player is here next season?" as reported by BBC.

Rooney's contract is until 2019 has indicated that he was committed to seeing out his deal. He has just scored five gold this season and hasn't been a regular member of the team. The clubs approaching Rooney from China include Guangzhou Evergrande, who are managed by Felipe Scolari, and Beijing Guoan who were fifth in the CSL last season as reported by sky sports.

Rooney became a squad player for United under Mourinho and has not played from February 1 because of a muscle injury. "I don't know," Mourinho told about his captain's fitness for Wembley and added "It was the first time he trained and he didn't even train 100 per cent with the group. You saw 15 minutes open to the press and, yes, he was doing the warm-up and basic things after that. But then when the training session was high in intensity, he was not training."

Rooney was in the team when United squad went to China last year in July for a pre-season tour. With 18 months left on his United contract, it would be interesting to see whether Rooney moves to another club.
