Tony Romo Trade Rumors: 3 Possible Destinations for Cowboys' Quarterback

The future of the Dallas Cowboys is bright with two phenomenal young players in running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott. It has led to a lot of trade rumors involving ex-starting QB Tony Romo.

Although Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not looking forward to seeing Romo wear a different next season, it is widely speculated that Dallas will trade the 36-year-old QB this offseason. There are a handful of teams looking for a quarterback and here are the three possible destinations for Romo.

Chicago Bears

The Bears are expected to move on from longtime QB Jay Cutler and his $13 million worth of cap space this offseason. Trade rumors have linked Chicago to Jimmy Garoppolo but there is no assurance that he'll pan out. Just look at the Houston Texans and Brock Osweiler deal last summer.

According to ESPN, the Bears have a "realistic chance" of acquiring Romo. However, he is not a long-term solution because of his age and injury history. Also, the Bears are far from contending for the Super Bowl but Romo could carry Chicago while waiting for their QB of the future.

Denver Broncos

The team that has been linked with Romo most of the time is the Broncos. A picture of the veteran QB along with Broncos GM John Elway further fueled the trade rumors but nothing appears imminent. However, Denver is a good fit for Romo's age and situation.

The Broncos are still a contender if they have a veteran quarterback like Romo. He'll be the starter as Denver awaits the development of Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. Melissa Jacobs of Sports Illustrated predicted that the Broncos will acquire Romo and he leads the team to the AFC Championship Game next season.

New York Jets

Both Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg are not yet ready to lead the Jets, and the team needs help in the starting quarterback position. Ryan Fitzpatrick was a disaster last season and the Jets are expected to move on from him.

According to Jimmie Kaylor of the Cheat Sheet, the Jets are the best landing spot for Romo because they are a talented team. He added that the Jets have the potential to contend in the AFC if every player is healthy and playing well.
