Cameroon came from behind to beat Egypt 2-1 to clinch their fifth African Cup of Nations in a thrilling and quite an edgy final. Elneny gave Egypt the lead in the first only to be cut out by N'Koulou in an hour mark, the winner came late when Vincent Aboubakar scored a fabulous goal in the 88th minute.

Aboubakar's goal came very late when he flicked the ball over Egypt defender Ali Gabr and thumped it home to win Cameroon's fifth African Cup of Nations. Elneny gave Egypt the lead after a good near post finish, N'Koulou equalized when he rose highest to head in goalwards.

The wild celebrations came after Aboubakar's winning goal returned Cameroon to the continental summit after 15 years of wait. This win also made the second most successful nation in the African Cup of Nations, after Egypt, won the tournament seven times. This win also marked the first time Cameroon defeated Egypt in an African Cup of Nations' final in three attempts.

Turkish club Besiktas striker Aboubakar ran towards the triumphant Cameroon fans after scoring the all important winning goal in the Stade de l'Amitie stands in Libreville. His celebrations was pursued by delirious players and coaching staff.

Cameroon were considered as the underdogs for this year's African Cup of Nations with some key players absent or retired, but they defied the odds to reach the final and stunned the much-fancied Egyptians with a late strike to snatch the title.

Notably, the ultimate winners were missing some key players such as withdrawal of Joel Matip and Eric-Chuopo Moting, despite all these problems coach Hugo Broos managed to assemble a squad that got their much needed reward for being strong, resilient and adaptable to problems they faced to win the prestigious African Cup of Nations.

In the first half, Egypt looked comfortable on the ball which resulted in their opening goal which was provided by Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, they looked good for the title in that first period, but the second half was a contrast with the Pharoahs sitting deep as fatigue set in them, Cameroon made use of their power and strength to eventually turned the game in their favour.
