WWE Backlash brought many intriguing moments for the "SmackDown Live" brand and has set up many possibilities for No Mercy.
The next "SmackDown Live" exclusive event will emanate live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., on Oct. 9. It will mark the first No Mercy event for the WWE since October 2008.
With a new World Champion and two new titles now a part of the Blue Brand, the card should be very interesting.
Here are five potential matches for WWE No Mercy. To view this article in slideshow form, CLICK START at the top right of this page.
WWE Tag Team Championships Fatal 4 Way Elimination: Rhyno & Heath Slater (c) vs. The Usos vs. American Alpha vs. The Hype Bros
The WWE pulled the trigger on the Rhyno and Heath Slater win as the lovable underdogs defeated the newly-heel Usos in the finals of the tournament. Rather than do a straight up rematch next month, American Alpha can be included in the mix since they are out for revenge against The Usos and never really had the opportunity at the Tag Championships that they deserved. The Hype Bros, who lost to The Usos at Backlash, could be added to make it an even number of teams.
WWE Women's Championship Triple Threat Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Nikki Bella vs. Carmella
The "Lass Kicker" finally won the big one as she outlasted five other women to become the first-ever "SmackDown Live" Women's Champion. Carmella was the runner-up in the match, so it would only make sense for her to become a contender for the title. Since she's feuding with Nikki Bella, their rivalry can become a separate storyline within the match as all three ladies vie for the new prize.
WWE Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
*Maryse is banned from ringside
This feud is bound to continue after the reigning Intercontinental Champion retained his title under sketchy circumstances with Maryse spraying Ziggler in the eyes, allowing Miz to hit Skull Crushing Finale and retain the gold. With two babyface authority figures, it seems logical that Ziggler will get another shot at No Mercy, this time with Maryse banned from ringside to ensure no foul play.
No Holds Barred: Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
This match was originally booked for Backlash, but with "The Viper" not cleared to compete, the WWE had Wyatt give him a storyline beat down in order to preserve the match for a later date. The "Eater of Worlds" faced Kane in a No Holds Barred match and lost when the "Apex Predator" interfered to take him out. This should undoubtedly lead to a clash between them next month.
WWE World Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Dean Ambrose
WWE officials rewarded "The Phenomenal One" by booking him to win the richest prize in the game at Backlash in what was a well-deserved honor considering he's one of the best workers on the entire roster. Though it seems a feud over the gold with John Cena is likely in the works down the line, the "Lunatic Fringe" is owed a rematch, which should likely occur at No Mercy.
