Ryan Lochte won't be returning to the site of his most infamous incident.
The Olympic swimmer and three of his peers were part of a crazy ordeal in Rio de Janeiro during the Summer Olympic Games, but now that he's back on American soil, he has no plans of returning to Brazil.
Officials in Rio de Janeiro have summoned Lochte to testify in front of Brazil's Justice Department, but he's never going back to the country, according to TMZ Sports.
The officials want the Olympic gold medalist to appear before them for possible punishments relating to the infamous bathroom incident he and fellow swimmers Jack Conger, Gunnar Bentz and Jimmy Feigen were involved in.
His three peers paid $11,000 to a Brazilian charity just to be able to escape the country, so it's likely a smart move on Lochte's part to avoid returning.
Lochte's team said they haven't heard anything about him being summoned to return, according to TMZ Sports. The site also says those close to the swimmer don't think he'll return out of fears he'll find himself unable to escape like his peers.
If Lochte were to come back to Brazil, police could arrest him and basically do anything they'd like to him, so he's obviously going to avoid that.
The latest chapter in this saga stems from the Olympics when one of the swimmers broke down a bathroom door at a gas station after not being allowed access into the facilities. They then had an altercation with a gas station manager and security, which led to Lochte allegedly getting robbed at gunpoint.
The swimmers were reportedly very drunk after leaving a club and when the story first leaked, Lochte claimed he was robbed by people dressed as cops and that one of them put a gun to his head and took his wallet.
He omitted a lot of crucial details of the story and, though he has stuck to most of the tale, some of the details didn't match up.
Lochte, who took home the gold medal for the men's 4 x 200 meter swimming relay, has become a villain for this international incident. He's even lost endorsements from multiple sponsors, but his girlfriend, former Playboy playmate Kayla Rae Reid, has remained by his side.
"I will always support him no matter what," Reid told the Daily Mail outside of LAX earlier this week. ... We are very close. There are a lot of chapters to come."
