Katie Ledecky left America for Brazil with a lot of dreams and she came home a hero.
The 19-year-old native of Washington, D.C. flew home from Rio de Janeiro after winning five medals at the Summer Games -- four gold and one silver.
Lececky, who reportedly flew home in coach, arrived to the airport to a hero's welcome as many people stopped to take pictures and congratulate the Olympic swimmer, who, much like Michael Phelps, made quite the splash at the Olympics.
The superstar, who received a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, flew into Washington Dulles International Airport where many people were waiting for her:
Ledecky took home the gold in the women's 200 meter freestyle, women's 800 meter freestyle, women's 400 meter freestyle and women's 4 x 200 meter freestyle. She earned the silver medal in the women's 4 x 100 meter freestyle.
She now owns six Olympic medals (five gold), nine world championship medals (all gold) and five Pan Pacific medals (all gold) to give her 20 overall -- 19 of which are gold.
After an awesome performance at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games, it's only fitting that there was a gaggle of people waiting for Ledecky to once again touch down on American soil.
