Dallas Cowboys, Johnny Manziel Rumors: Dak Prescott Has Jerry Jones Forgetting About 'Johnny Football' [VIDEO]

Johnny Manziel may have lost one of his biggest supporters.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has never been shy about his admiration for the wayward quarterback's ability on the gridiron, but when asked about why he likes Johnny Football so much, he had just two words to say, changing the subject completey.

"Dak Prescott," Jones told TMZ Sports in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Dallas drafted Prescott, 23, with the 135th overall pick in this year's NFL Draft in the fourth round out of Mississippi State. With Kellen Moore out with a broken right fibula, the Cowboys have been looking for a backup quarterback to spell Tony Romo. It seems Jones is confident they have a sound signal caller in Prescott.

The Cowboys lost to the Rams, 28-24, in preaseason Week 1 action on Saturday in Los Angeles, but Prescott looked great. The rookie went 10-for-12 passing, while throwing for 139 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Jameill Showers then took over and was 8 of 16 for 99 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Prescott played so well, in fact, that he has Jones forgetting all about his love for Manziel.

Jones has always been quite taken with the former Heisman Trophy winner, who was selected with the No. 22 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Browns, but didn't make it beyond the 2015 season due to his troublesome ways.

Despite his struggles off the field, Jones still heaped praise on Manziel for how he plays the game recently.

"I have the same impression that when he came out of A&M of what his potential is as a football player," Jones told Peter King of Sports Illustrated back in May. "I haven't changed my opinion of how exciting of a player that he is, how unique a player that he is."

Manziel, 23, has had many issues staying away from the party scene and was also recently indicted by a Dallas jury for a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend, model Colleen Crowley. The blonde bombshell claimed her former flame hit her so hard that she lost the hearing in her left ear temporarily.

The former quarterback was also recently sued for allegedly causing $32,000 worth of damage to a home he and his party friends rented for a two-day alcohol and drug-fueled binge in Los Angeles. On top of his incidents, Manziel has been involved in at least three vehicular accidents as well this offseason.

Despite his myriad issues -- which include getting dropped by two agents this offseason -- Manziel adamant that he plans on staying sober to pursue a return to the NFL.

Nevertheless, a friend recently admitted that Manziel acknowledged he hit "rock bottom," though he was still seen partying recently.

Perhaps Jones is smart to back Prescott -- even if he's going off of one meaningless exhibition game.
