Roman Reigns Suspended: Former WWE Champ Banned 30 Days For Wellness Violation [VIDEO]

Roman Reigns has been suspended by the WWE for 30 days for violating the company's wellness policy.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has acknowledged his wrongdoing on Twitter and owned up to it, taking the blame for his mistake.

The WWE released a statement on its website announcing the news Tuesday.

"WWE has suspended Joe Anoa'i (Roman Reigns) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company's talent wellness policy," the organization wrote on WWE.com.

The WWE also re-tweeted a message from Reigns acknowledging the suspension:

Reigns lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in shocking fashion on Sunday night at Money in the Bank at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Seth Rollins defeated him cleanly with the Pedigree only to then lose the belt to Dean Ambrose, who cashed in the Money in the Bank contract he won earlier in the night.

The leader of the Roman Empire's loss could be connected to the violation, but it's unknown at this time. It's also doubtful since the WWE has a zero tolerance policy and would have likely banned him right away.

Reigns appeared on "Monday Night RAW" this week where it was announced he would face Ambrose and Rollins in a Triple Threat Match at Battleground for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, so the failure of the test likely just came out.

The three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion's suspension will be over before the Battleground event on July 24 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., but he won't be around for any of the buildup, so changes could be coming to the card.

Reigns will also be suspended for the upcoming WWE Draft on July 19.

Perhaps the long-awaited Shield Triple Threat Match can now happen at SummerSlam -- where it belongs.
