The defending Super Bowl champion Ravens didn't look like they deserved such a title before their bye, but they'll look to come out of the bye against a Cleveland team that it usually has success against. The Browns look to avoid a three-game losing streak while the Ravens hope to avoid a three-game slide of their own while beating Cleveland for the 12th consecutive time.
Still, the Ravens, off to their worst seven-game start since 2008, aren't taking them lightly.
"They're a hard playing bunch," Ravens coach John Harbaugh told the team's official website. "(Cleveland's) a good football team."
Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco has gone 160-for-269 (59.5%) for 1,917 yards and has struggled as his touchdowns and interceptions are equal at eight apiece.
Baltimore knows it has to play better on both sides of the ball if it is to get anywhere near the success it saw last year.
"We have to get better. We have a lot to improve on," Harbaugh said per ESPN. "We have to find a way to get better. That's the business we're in."
Running back Ray Rice has three touchdowns and 242 rushing yards on 86 carries thus far this season. He said he will put the "spitting incident" with Phll Taylor behind him going into the game after Taylor accused him of spitting on him during an on-field altercation seven weeks ago when these teams last met.
"It was two guys jawing at each other," Rice told ESPN Wednesday ahead of the Week 9 matchup. "I had my mouthpiece in, so when I went to say something back to him it looked as if I projected toward him. But I had my mouthpiece in. I was saying something, he was saying something. Obviously, that's what happened. We'll leave it at that."
Cleveland's first-year head coach Rob Chudzinski hopes that his team puts up the same fight that it did against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs where it lost 23-17.
Jason Campbell threw for 293 yards with two touchdowns in his first start while Josh Gordon caught five passes for 132 yards and a score in the loss. Campbell went 23-for-40 (57.5%) for 299 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. On the season, Gordon has 32 receptions for 585 yards and three touchdowns thus far this season.
Top rusher Willis McGahee has been limited to just 104 yards on 30 carries during the three-game losing streak. McGahee has rushed for 231 yards on 79 attempts with a score thus far this season.
The Browns and Ravens each look to end a three-game skid but only one team will be successful when they hit the field this afternoon in Cleveland.
