Roman Reigns WWE News & Rumors: Bret Hart Blames 'Bad Booking' On WWE Champion's Inability To Get Over [VIDEO]

It might be a little awkward when Bret "Hitman" Hart appears at WWE Payback this Sunday.

The WWE Hall of Famer is slated to be in the corner of his niece Natalya as she battles WWE Women's Champion Charlotte, who will be seconded by her father, wrestling legend Ric Flair.

Hart has already intimated that he really is only doing it to support Natalya and doesn't want to be a part of the proceedings.

Now, he's even coming after the creative team. Say what you will about "The Excellence of Execution," but he always speaks his mind.

The main event this Sunday will pit polarizing WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns against darling of the WWE Universe AJ Styles. Reigns has struggled to get over due to his inability to consistently put on good matches and his shortcomings on the microphone.

Reigns has also been force-fed down the throats of wrestling fans by WWE creative and Hart specifically took aim at the booking when assessing what has stopped the leader of the Roman Empire from getting over.

"I think Roman Reigns is actually a hard working, decent wrestler and he [has] got potential," Hart told Notts TV News (via WrestlingInc). "Whether he [has] got the potential to carry the company, I don't know. It doesn't seem like the fans are into that too much, but I think a lot of it is bad booking, just really lousy booking, like, when I look at WrestleMania and look at how they built him in the Royal Rumble, they booed him all the way in it for the short time he was in there.

"And then they had him get hurt by The Authority where 10 guys beat him on the floor, which was so contrived. And then he went back to the dressing room and then he came out at the very end. He still didn't win. He got dumped out by Triple H, but it was like just too manufactured and too set up [for] people to digest it."

Hart brings up a good point as the WWE Universe hated on the Rumble Match and booed Reigns all the way up to his crowning moment at WrestleMania 32. One way to solve this situation would be to turn him heel, or find another top guy, but thus far the company has shied away from such decisions.

The five-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be in attendance on Sunday and he'll likely see the bad booking of Reigns continue.
