Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian Relationship Update: Reality Star Reveals Why She Can't Let Go Of Her Husband [VIDEO]

Even when Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom do officially get divorced, the two-time NBA champion won't be out of the reality star's life.

As the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star has shown in the past, she usually likes to keep her ex-boyfriends around well after the relationship is over. It appears the same goes for her likely soon-to-be ex-husband in Odom.

Kardashian halted divorce proceedings from Odom after he nearly lost his life to an overdose at a Nevada brothel in October. True to her character, the "Kocktails with Khloe" host has remained by the ex-NBA star's side ever since the incident.

The best-selling author has been a huge catalyst in Odom's miraculous recovery, and it's likely he'll always play a role in her life.

"Just because you break up with someone doesn't mean you lose that connection," Kardashian wrote on her website, according to E! Online. "I always say, people are in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. If my relationship with someone didn't have substance anyway, we don't need to keep in touch. I don't need to stay friends with a guy I f--ked for two weeks LOL, but if it's a relationship that served a purpose in my life, like Lamar, why wouldn't I want them in my life afterwards?"

Kardashian has remained close to Odom ever since he nearly lost his life, and she also has a tight bond with another ex-boyfriend, rapper French Montana. It's unlikely James Harden will be extended that same courtesy, especially since he pushed for a monogamous relationship with her only to cheat.

The 31-year-old television personality added that she always wants to be able to see exes in public without it being awkward. Kardashian said it might take some time before people can get to that place, however.

"You definitely shouldn't force it, though," she wrote. "You need a break, so you can process everything, and you need to respect yourself and your own emotions. If it's toxic to remain friends, you shouldn't, and if you haven't had closure, you can't be friends yet. But it doesn't have to be that way forever."

Though Kardashian fully intends to push on with her divorce eventually, it doesn't mean Odom will ever be out of her life completely.
