Forget the revelation that Kevin Durant is the player that most NBA general managers would want taking a shot with a game on the line; Kevin Love received the most coveted "award" from NBA.com's 12th annual GM Survey that was released Monday.
Love, the Minnesota Timberwolves starting power forward, was the winner of the category, "Which player makes the most of limited natural ability?"
Or as Love referred to it on Twitter: "The White-Guy Award."
The survey asks the 30 general managers in the league 56 assorted questions about the upcoming season, such as "Which team will win the 2014 NBA Finals" and "Who will win the 2013-14 MVP?" (Answer, the Miami Heat and James, respectively).
Some media outlets focused on the last question in the survey, "Which player would you want taking a shot with the game on the line?" that revealed Durant, the Oklahoma City Thunder forward, as the choice over the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant.
James, the reigning NBA MVP of the Miami Heat, finished in a tie for third with the New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony. Durant, however, also was the GMs' choice last season, with more percentage of the vote (46.7) last year than this year (39.1).
But Love got a kick out of being crowned the player making the most of limited natural ability, as USA TODAY Sports reported, in response to a tweet sent out by Associated Press writer Jon Krawczynski.
"It's the "White Guy" award!! @APkrawczynski: Another from NBA GM survey: @kevinlove is player who makes most of 'limited natural ability.' "
To which former NBA player and general manager, and current TNT analyst Steve Kerr chimed in.
"@kevinlove: GM survey: Love is player who makes most of 'limited natural ability.' Other than being 6-10, insanely strong w/velvet touch?"
Love then lamented via tweet that he and Kerr share the same condition, to which Kerr replied, "@kevinlove It's a disease that we will face for a lifetime. There is no cure!"
To add insult to injury to Love's award, consider that he, too, lost votes this season, garnering 24.1 percent of the vote to 34.5 percent he received last year.
