Tim Tebow News: Spike TV Hoping Former Football Star Can Perform Better On 'Lip Sync Battle' Than On The Field [VIDEO]

Tim Tebow is either an incredible football player, or one of the worst the game has ever seen, depending on whom you ask. The folks at Spike TV are hoping they get the Heisman version of Tebow on stage Feb. 4, when he battles Nina Dobrev on their hit show “Lip Sync Battle.”

Tebow is best known for his time on the gridiron. He was a standout in college for the Florida Gators, helping them to two national championships (2007, 2009) and winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He accounted for 145 career touchdowns (passing and rushing), as well as 12,232 combined passing and rushing yards. Tebow’s rushing ability was his ticket to the NFL, however.

At the pro level Tebow’s rushing ability was enough for the Broncos to give him the starting job after going 1-4 with Kyle Orton at the helm, and entirely change the offense to be based on the run. He went 7-4 as a starter for the Broncos, and led Denver to a postseason upset over the Steelers in overtime. His career went downhill after that, and he’s now a college football analyst for the SEC Network. Will that prepare him enough to win on “Lip Sync Battle?” He’s got tough competition.

Dobrev is one year younger than Tebow, but has real entertainment chops. She broke out as Mia Jones on “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” and has since landed roles on “The Vampire Diaries,” as well as in big movies “The Perks of Being A Wallflower,” and “Let’s Be Cops.” The latter is most important here, as comedy is a major part of succeeding on “Lip Sync Battle.”
