NBA All Star Game 2016 News: Dwane Casey Could Call Shots Due To Technicality [VIDEO]

With David Blatt getting the pink slip, Tyronn Lue has been elevated to do much more than lead the Cavaliers. Lue has replaced Blatt in a move some feel was something planned all along.

Regardless, Lue didn’t exactly pan out well in his first official role as head coach after the Cavs lost to the Bulls, 96-93. But then again, one game doesn’t define what Lue is capable of.

LeBron James Didn't Have A Hand In David Blatt Firing

Looking beyond, there are some things that may have been affected with the coaching change. Foremost is the coach who will handle the Eastern All-Stars when the NBA holds its annual festivities next month.

Had he not been fired, the obvious choice would be Blatt since the Cavs are at the top of the Eastern Conference. With the changes that recently took place, does Lue inherit that privilege as well?

D-Rose Would Rather Work Out Than Be In Toronto Next Month

If so, it isn’t surprising that Lue finds it awkward. If he had his say, Lue believes that Blatt should coach the East All Stars per Cleveland.com.

"The NBA has been trying to work around some different things for the All-Star Game and he's done a great job here," Lue said. "We're first in the East and I think it would be sweet if Coach Blatt could coach the All-Star Game one last time."

But rules state that Blatt is technically not allowed to coach because he is not an official coach in the league. Had Blatt coached in last year's All-Star Game, the issue wouldn’t have been a problem per NBA.com.

With that on the table, a logical solution would be to have the next best team inheriting the reins. And that means Dwane Casey of the Raptors could be calling the shots if the mix up is not resolved.

That route is likely to draw debate, but Lue would be in the same predicament as well. Blatt technically led the Cavs to their current record, while Lue has yet to even win his first official NBA game at the helm.
