Matt Barnes, Derek Fisher Feud: Knicks Coach Sounds Like He Needs To Watch His Back [VIDEO]

Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes and Knicks coach Derek Fisher had a few days this offseason in which they topped the headlines because of a fight that took place at the home of Barnes’ estranged wife, Gloria Govan.

The stories vary, but this is not in dispute; Barnes went to Govan’s home and got into a fight with Fisher. Things seemed to have simmered down, but Barnes revealed that he’s still not satisfied with how it has played out to The New York Daily News.

Derek Fisher's Divorce Nearly Complete, Should Ditch Gloria Govan Too

“I know I got to keep my mouth shut because then he’ll run and tell,” Barnes said. “So we’re focused on playing that team (the Knicks). And when I’m retired, him and I will cross paths again.”

That sounds an awful lot like a threat. Barnes, a former teammate of Fisher’s with the Lakers, has no love at all for him these days. He said he’d avoid Fisher when the Grizzlies face the Knicks Saturday because “I don’t talk to snakes.”

Fans Won't Let Gloria Govan Fight Go When Matt Barnes Is In Town

The Daily News spoke to some of Barnes’ teammates as well, who painted a picture of Barnes that is different from the one conjured up when his encounter with Fisher is discussed. “I thought he was going to be a little bit more off-the-rocker, a little bit more cuckoo than he is,” guard Courtney Lee said. “But he’s a sane guy. He’s solid, bro. He’s a good teammate.”

Barnes has already been suspended for two games this year because of this incident, but is likely toeing the line for further investigation by hinting he will eventually “cross paths again” with Fisher. His best bet is to leave it alone.
