Kobe Bryant will close his long-standing history at the TD Garden in Boston tonight when the Celtics host the Black Mamba for the last time in their building. Bryant recently admitted to The Los Angeles Times that green is actually his favorite color, but the men in green jerseys haven’t been kind to Kobe in the big moments.
Sure Kobe has five rings, far more than Boston during the span of Kobe’s 18-year career, but head-to-head, things haven’t been easy for Bryant when he faces the Celtics. For instance, the one ring the Celtics did take home during Bryant’s career came against Kobe’s Lakers in 2008.

That year the Celtics assembled their version of a “Big 3,” acquiring Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to join Paul Pierce. They held Bryant to under 35 percent shooting three times in the 2008 Finals, and sent Los Angeles packing in Game 6 by walloping them by 39 points. Of course, that happened in the TD Garden.
In 2010 Bryant got his revenge … sort of. Kobe’s Lakers beat the Celtics for the title in a seven-game war, but Bryant was far from the hero. He nearly shot Los Angeles out of Game 7, going 6-of-24 from the field, and 0-of-6 from beyond the 3-point line, and offering up a supremely inefficient 23-point, 15-rebound game.

"They caused a lot of problems for me" in Game 7,” Bryant said on Tuesday.
Unfortunately tonight’s game will be more about memories than current competition, as the Lakers are entering play with just five wins on the season. The Celtics, on the other hand, are 18-13 and have an Eastern Conference playoffs berth as a goal.
Just like in 2010, Bryant will be happy as long as the Lakers win.
