While not shooting down his potential interest in signing quarterback Tim Tebow, Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan tells TMZ the team needs a lot more than the former Heisman Trophy winner to turn around the floundering franchise.
Khan, who TMZ describes as one of the richest men in America, told the website as he was leaving the Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C. on Tuesday "ah, we need a lot of good players, OK."
Several media outlets reported last week Tebow will "receive a shot" to play quarterback for the Jaguars. Jacksonville fans have lobbied hard all season for the team to give Tebow a try under center in the same state where he once starred collegiately and won the Heisman in 2007. Despite being cut twice in the NFL, the former Gators star may soon get another try in a move the website adds is also an attempt to spark greater interest in the struggling franchise.
Cut prior to the season by Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, many have speculated that the union between Tebow and the winless Jags was inevitable.
Tebow completed just six passes in eight attempts as a member of the New York Jets in 2012. Before then, he spent two seasons in Denver, enjoying his best NFL season in 2011 when he started 11 games and threw for 1,729 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The Broncos dealt him to the Jets that offseason to make way for the signing of Peyton Manning.
