Holly Holm News: UFC Champion Unhappy About 8-Month Wait For Ronda Rousey Rematch [VIDEO]

If it were happening to Ronda Rousey, she'd likely be cursing at the top of her lungs from the rooftops.

New URC bantamweight champion Holly Holm admitted she did not like potentially having to wait eight months to get back into the octagon, MMAJunkie reported. UFC president Dana White has mandated that the champion's next fight be a rematch against Rousey, penciled in for July 9, 2016, at UFC 200.

For Holm and her laid-back personality, raising any kind of objection is the equivalent of Rousey shouting.

"The only thing about July is that it's eight months away from my last fight," she told MMAJunkie. "That's the biggest thing. I don't like to wait that long."

Holm, who was a longtime boxing champion, is used to fighting much more regularly.

"In boxing, I did 10 years straight of having four fights a year, and so to wait eight months, it's out of my norm.

"I feel like a rematch is just the unspoken, yeah, that's got to happen. A fight in between now and then, I feel like that's like, yes, let's stay active. There's a lot of things that can be."

Holm has become accustomed to going at a slower pace in the UFC, MMA Junkie added. She had a contentious beginning with the UFC, having to wait 10 months as her promotional team negotiated with the UFC.

But at age 34, Holm's window of opportunity is not as wide as that of a younger fighter, such as the 28-year-old Rousey. The UFC is limiting Holm's earnings potential now that she is champion.

"I'll be OK with it if [my next fight is at UFC 200]," she said. "We'll just see what happens, and see how the cards unfold."

Holm's management team is sure to make note of the current delay in negotiating her appearance fee in the rematch. But Holm could use stronger language if the rematch doesn't take place then.
